'C' is such a fun letter! There are so many wonderful things that start with the letter 'C'...things like cookies, chocolate, cake, and candy corn. So 'C' may be for cow, but don't let that stop you from enjoying all the other things that begin with C! :0)
This week we will cover:
The Letter 'C'
'C' is for Cows
The color Yellow
The number 3
Squares
Sorting
Monday: The Letter 'C'
-color a letter 'C' coloring page
-while Jay is coloring, we will watch this, this, and this.
-glue our coloring page to a piece of yellow construction paper and hang it on the wall
- make a set of letter C memory cards (One with the letter C on it and the other with a picture of a cow on it
-sing our ABC's
-talk about the letter C and the different sounds it can make (hard C like Cake, soft C like Celery, and Ch like Chicken)
-use pipe cleaners to make a letter C
-bake letter C sugar cookies and decorate them (you can use a letter C cookie cutter, a cow cookie cutter, or even just do round cookies and use icing to write the letter C on them)
-eat our cookies with milk and talk about how the milk comes from cows
Tuesday: 'C' is for Cow
-color a cow coloring page
-while Jay is coloring we will watch this
-glue the coloring page to a piece of yellow construction paper and hang it on the wall
-Sing Old McDonald Had a Farm (with C animals: cows, chickens, coyotes, crickets, etc)
-Jay will play this cow game on the Internet
-Read My Little People Farm
-we will work Jay's farm puzzle and talk about cows. Here are some fun cow facts. (you can also make a cow puzzle by printing a picture of a cow, gluing the picture to a piece of cardboard or even construction paper, and then cutting it into pieces)
Wednesday: Cattle Drive Day
-we are going to head down to our local stock yards to watch a cattle drive. But you could go on a picnic in a rural area or at a park that is close to some cows too.
-While we are at the stockyards, we are going to look for things that start with the letter C
-sing Hey Diddle Diddle
-Jay will "paint" this cow on the computer
Thursday: The Number 3
-color a number 3 coloring page
-while Jay colors, we will watch this, this, and this
-glue our coloring page to a piece of yellow construction paper and hang it an the wall
-make a set of number 3 Memory cards (one with the number 3 on it and the other with three stickers on it)
-we will open a bag of M&M's and sort them into groups by color
-we will talk about how we already sort toys when we put them up (we sort them into labeled bins)
-We will read a counting book
Friday: Squares
-we will color a square coloring page
-while Jay is coloring, we will watch this, this, and this
-glue the coloring page to a piece of yellow construction paper and hang it on the wall
-use pretzels and marshmallows to make squares (the marshmallows hold the corners together)
-Play a shape sorting game (cut triangles and squares out of construction paper, then have Jay sort them by shape)
-sing The Square Song
-do a worksheet where Jay draws lines between matching squares
-Use our construction paper squares to make a square garland for Jay's bedroom door (tie the cut out squares together with ribbon to form a string of squares to act as a garland)
Don't forget to save the pictures from the previous week to make your Alphabet, Shape, and Number Books. :0)
